Doing some family history research and didn't know much about my Palatine ancestors' life before they arrived in upstate New York.
Then I found this book, chock-full of documentation from European sources about the living conditions in the Palatine, their many reasons for fleeing Germany at the time, their migration to and life in London, and finally the details of their trip to America.
I like the author's thorough research style with original sources--and the fact that he explains the reasons why he departs from some of the conclusions of other researchers of this migration.
I'd highly recommend it, especially for people whose family came from that region.
